A ribbon of parks in the former Turia riverbed leads to the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences, and the seafront districts of Cabanyal and Malvarrosa mix fishermen's houses, rice restaurants and wide city beaches. Valencia is the home of paella.

The port is both a turnaround port and a popular call on western Mediterranean itineraries.
