Where is the Miami cruise port?

Cruise ships berth at PortMiami on Dodge Island in Biscayne Bay, just east of Downtown Miami. Ships dock alongside dedicated terminals (AA, A, B, C, D, E, F, J and V), and passengers walk through the terminal buildings, so no tenders are used. Terminal G is under construction and not yet operating.

Most terminals line North Cruise Boulevard on the north side of the island; Terminal J is on the south side. Cars arrive through the toll-free PortMiami Tunnel from the MacArthur Causeway/I-395 or over the Port Bridge from Downtown.

Downtown Miami (Bayside) is about 3 km and 7 minutes from the terminals by car, and Brickell about 4 km and 10–15 minutes, longer in weekday morning traffic. Walking with luggage is impractical, and terminal assignments vary by ship.

Getting to the Miami cruise port

Miami International Airport → PortMiami

14 km · ~15 min by car

Most passengers take a rideshare, taxi or cruise-line coach. Taxis wait at the MIA arrivals taxi queues and rideshares use the designated pick-up zones; at PortMiami, drivers use the terminal drop-off zones. Allow extra time on busy embarkation mornings.

Typical prices, approximate. Fares change with demand, traffic and time of day.

Driving to the port

Cars reach PortMiami through the toll-free PortMiami Tunnel, which links the MacArthur Causeway (SR A1A) with Dodge Island for direct I-395/I-95 access, or over the Port Bridge from Downtown. After the tunnel, cruise traffic should keep left. Set navigation to your terminal's address (e.g. 2200 N. Cruise Blvd for Terminal AA, 1120 Caribbean Way for Terminal J), not the port offices. The free inter-terminal shuttle runs only when a ship departs from one terminal and returns to another. Drive times are light-traffic estimates; allow more time in weekday morning traffic.

About Miami

Miami is a major coastal city in southeastern Florida on Biscayne Bay, with Miami Beach and its Atlantic beaches just across the bay.

Visitors know it for South Beach and the Art Deco Historic District, the Cuban and Latin American culture of Little Havana and Calle Ocho, the outdoor murals of Wynwood Walls, and the high-rise districts of Downtown and Brickell. The city also has a large dining and nightlife scene and historic sites such as Vizcaya Museum and Gardens on the bay.

Climate
Subtropical, with a hot, humid wet season (about mid-May to mid-October) that brings frequent afternoon thunderstorms and most of the year's rain, and a milder, drier season from about November to April. Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30.
