Where is the Cozumel cruise port?

Ships dock alongside at three cruise piers on Cozumel's calm west coast; pier assignment varies by ship and day.

Punta Langosta, administered by APIQROO, is in downtown San Miguel. Parque Benito Juarez is about 1 km away, roughly a 10-minute walk.

The International Pier (SSA Mexico) and Puerta Maya sit next to each other on the Costera Sur, about 4–5 km south of the town center. From there it is about 10–15 minutes by taxi, while walking takes around 60–70 minutes along the coastal road. Each pier has its own shopping area and taxi rank.

Driving to the port

Pier taxi fares are fixed by zone in USD, e.g. Chankanaab USD 12 (about 7 minutes from the southern piers), Palancar Beach Club USD 25, Punta Sur Park USD 35. The tariff dates from 2016; a 2026 request for higher fares was not approved, so fares may change. Ferries to Playa del Carmen take about 45 minutes from the downtown ferry pier, a 15-minute walk from Punta Langosta or about 15 minutes by car from the southern piers; adult one-way fares are MXN 290 (Xcaret Xailing, hourly) or MXN 320 (Ultramar). Drive times are light-traffic readings, so allow a wide margin before all-aboard.

Cozumel Cruise Terminals

3 terminals

International Pier (SSA Mexico)

Terminal Internacional de Cruceros de Cozumel, operated by SSA Mexico at Carretera a Chankanaab km 4.5, about 4.5 km south of downtown. Its two berths (458 m and 412 m) can handle two of the world's largest cruise ships at once, next to a shopping center with more than 110 shops, restaurants, taxis and car rental. Used by Celebrity, Disney, MSC, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian ships, among others; assignments vary by sailing.

Destination

About Cozumel

Cozumel is Mexico's largest Caribbean island, about 18–19 km off the Yucatan Peninsula opposite Playa del Carmen in the state of Quintana Roo. It is about 48 km long and 16 km wide.

The main town, San Miguel de Cozumel, sits on the sheltered west coast with a waterfront promenade, the central Parque Benito Juarez and the Museo de la Isla. The island's reefs are part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef and protected within Arrecifes de Cozumel National Park, making Cozumel one of the Caribbean's best-known diving and snorkeling destinations.

Before the Spanish arrived, Cozumel was a Maya pilgrimage center dedicated to the goddess Ixchel, and the ruins of San Gervasio survive inland. It was named a Pueblo Magico in 2023, holds a long-running Carnival and is one of Mexico's busiest cruise destinations, with about 1,285 cruise calls expected in 2025.

Climate
Hot and humid year-round, with a short drier season from roughly February to April and a long wet season peaking in September and October (over 240 mm of rain a month); January is the coolest month at about 23 °C. Cozumel lies in the path of Atlantic hurricanes during the June–November season.
