Hamilton is the capital of Bermuda, a walkable harbour city. Its heart is Front Street, a waterfront promenade where colonial-style buildings painted pink, yellow and blue overlook Hamilton Harbour, with shops selling fashion, jewellery, souvenirs and rum alongside restaurants and pubs. Banks and offices sit among them, as Hamilton is an international business hub. A few blocks inland are City Hall and the Bermuda National Gallery, the Sessions House of Bermuda's parliament, and the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity, whose tower can be climbed on weekdays. Fort Hamilton, a former British garrison with gardens in its old moat, looks over the city from a hilltop. Public buses connect Hamilton with the South Shore beaches, St. George's and the Royal Naval Dockyard.
