Where is the Ha Long cruise port?

Most ships dock at Ha Long International Cruise Port on the Bai Chay seafront, a purpose-built terminal with a 470 m international quay for two large ships and domestic wharfs for bay boats. Sun World Ha Long is a 1.1 km, 15-minute walk away, so the resort area is walkable.

Very large ships and some overnight calls use Cai Lan, a container port a short drive away in Bai Chay ward, where shuttles or taxis are needed. Check the ship's notice for the berth.

About Ha Long

Ha Long is a city on Vietnam's northeast coast in Quang Ninh Province, about 170 km east of Hanoi, and the gateway to Ha Long Bay. The bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, holds about 1,600 limestone karsts and islets rising from emerald water, with caves such as Sung Sot and floating fishing villages, and is usually explored on day boats. The city is split by Bai Chay Bridge into Bai Chay, the resort side with the seafront Sun World park and cable car, and the older Hon Gai.

Ha Long International Cruise Port, Vietnam's first dedicated cruise terminal, opened in Bai Chay in 2018. Many cruise passengers also take long day trips to Hanoi.
