Where is the Buenos Aires cruise port?

Ships berth in the commercial Port of Buenos Aires, in Retiro just north of the city centre, and passengers pass through the Terminal Benito Quinquela Martin at Av. Ramon S. Castillo and Av. De los Inmigrantes.

Inside the restricted port a shuttle bus links the ship and the terminal; walking through the port zone is not allowed. From the terminal Plaza de Mayo is about 4 km and 10 minutes by car (about 50 minutes on foot along busy avenues, which few passengers do). Taxis and remises wait at the terminal, and the city's electric bus serves the centre, San Telmo and La Boca. All berths are alongside, with no tendering.

Terminal

Getting to the Buenos Aires cruise port

Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) → Terminal Benito Quinquela Martin

36 km · ~40 min by car

Most international flights land at Ezeiza, south-west of the city. A fixed-fare airport taxi or private transfer straight to the cruise terminal is simplest; the Tienda Leon bus is cheaper but ends at its city terminal, so a taxi is still needed.

Typical prices, approximate. Fares change with demand, traffic and time of day.

Driving to the port

Drop-off and pick-up are at the terminal forecourt, where parking is reserved for buses, taxis and rental cars. Give drivers 'Terminal de Cruceros Quinquela Martin, Av. Ramon Castillo' rather than just 'the port', to avoid the Buquebus ferry terminal.

Terminal Benito Quinquela Martin

The city's cruise terminal (12,786 m2) in the Port of Buenos Aires, handling up to 12,000 passengers a day, with check-in halls for immigration, customs and cruise lines, luggage storage, exchange office, Wi-Fi and a VIP lounge. Used for both turnaround and transit calls; an internal shuttle links ships and terminal.

Parking at the Buenos Aires cruise port

The Benito Quinquela Martin cruise terminal has no long-stay passenger parking; its car park is reserved for buses, taxis and rental cars (Agencia Nacional de Puertos y Navegación). Neither publishes a rate on its own site.

About Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, Argentina's capital on the Rio de la Plata, is a big, European-feeling city of grand avenues, cafes and late nights, and the birthplace of tango. Plaza de Mayo, ringed by the pink Casa Rosada and the Metropolitan Cathedral, is the political heart. Cobbled San Telmo has antique shops and a Sunday street fair, and La Boca's brightly painted Caminito recalls the immigrant dock workers and the painter Benito Quinquela Martin, who gives the cruise terminal its name.

Recoleta's cemetery holds Eva Peron's tomb among ornate mausoleums, while Palermo offers parks, museums and restaurants. The port is a major embarkation point for South America and Antarctica-bound itineraries, with many ships overnighting, which leaves time for a steak dinner and a tango show.
