About Seward

Seward sits at the head of Resurrection Bay on the Kenai Peninsula, about 130 road miles south of Anchorage, and is a turnaround port for Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruises across the Gulf of Alaska. Ships tie up at the Dale R. And Carol Ann Lindsey Alaska Railroad Terminal, which opened in 2026 next to the railroad depot, so passengers can transfer straight to the Coastal Classic train to Anchorage.

The town is the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park, where nearly 40 glaciers flow from the Harding Icefield, and to Exit Glacier, 11 miles out of town. In town are the Alaska SeaLife Center, the small boat harbor and a historic downtown with colourful murals.
