Santa Barbara de Samana is a small town on the northern shore of Samana Bay, on the Samana Peninsula in the northeast of the Dominican Republic. The bay is one of the Caribbean's main humpback whale breeding grounds, and from January to March whale-watching boats leave from the town's waterfront. The peninsula is known for palm-backed beaches such as Playa Rincon near Las Galeras, the El Limon waterfall in the hills, and the beach town of Las Terrenas on the north coast.
Across the bay, Los Haitises National Park has mangroves, karst islets and caves with Taino rock art, and the island of Cayo Levantado lies just offshore. The new Samana Bayport cruise terminal opened beside the town in December 2025.

A roughly 40 m waterfall in the hills near El Limon village, reached by a hike or horseback ride of about 30–45 minutes from the trailhead, with a pool for swimming.
