Where is the Nassau cruise port?

Ships dock at Nassau Cruise Port on Prince George Wharf, right on downtown Nassau's waterfront. The port has six berths along a 2,230 m berthing line and can take three Oasis-class ships at once, plus Icon-class ships.

Passengers walk along the pier to the Arrivals Terminal, a short walk from Bay Street, Rawson Square and Parliament Square. The Straw Market is about 500 m (7 minutes) away and Junkanoo Beach about 1 km (15 minutes) on foot.

The taxi stand and tour pick-ups are at the port's Ground Transportation Area, and water taxis to Paradise Island leave from the wharf. Berths are assigned for each call, so walking distance along the pier depends on your berth.

Driving to the port

Taxis are the main way around: there is no Uber or Lyft. New Providence taxis charge regulated zone fares for two passengers (S.I. No. 14 of 2024), so confirm the fare before you set off. Jitneys run in the daytime, with a flat fare of about BSD 1.50 paid in exact change. The airport is about 16 km and 25 minutes from the port.

Nassau Cruise Port Arrivals Terminal

The port's single passenger terminal at the head of Prince George Wharf serves all six cruise berths and houses Customs and Immigration, a pharmacy and port agents; passengers show ID at its security desk when re-boarding. Royal Caribbean, Carnival, MSC, Disney, Norwegian, Princess and Celebrity call here, with berths assigned for each call.

Parking at the Nassau cruise port

Nassau Cruise Port has no parking for the general public. Nassau is a port of call and passengers don't arrive by car. For anyone with a rental car, NCP lists nearby paid parking at The Pointe parking garage on West Bay Street, a public lot on Elizabeth Avenue and Triple B Parking on East Street, as well as on-street parking downtown.

About Nassau

Nassau is the capital and largest city of The Bahamas, on the north shore of New Providence island. Its compact historic downtown has pink and pastel colonial buildings around Parliament Square, the Bay Street shopping strip and the Straw Market.

Landmarks include the Queen's Staircase, cut from solid limestone by enslaved people in 1793–1794, which leads up to Fort Fincastle. Across the harbour, Paradise Island is home to the Atlantis resort and the white sand of Cabbage Beach, and Cable Beach lies to the west.

Local food centres on conch, served fresh as conch salad or fried at the Arawak Cay Fish Fry, and the Junkanoo festival with its costumed street parades is a major part of local culture. Nassau is one of the world's busiest cruise ports, with about 5.6 million cruise passengers in 2024.
