Bonifacio is a fortified town at the southern tip of Corsica, set on white limestone cliffs above the Strait of Bonifacio, facing Sardinia. Its commercial port lies in the heart of the town, at the end of a long natural inlet, so passengers can reach the centre after only a few minutes on foot. Calls are mostly small and luxury ships, along with expedition and sailing ships.
The walled Haute-Ville crowns the promontory above the marina. Boat trips run along the cliffs and out to the Lavezzi Islands.
