About Piran

Piran is a small medieval town at the tip of a narrow peninsula on Slovenia's short Adriatic coast, facing the Gulf of Piran. Smaller cruise ships anchor off Piran and bring passengers ashore by tender, mostly in summer.

The compact, car-free old town centres on Tartini Square, with Venetian Gothic houses, remains of the town walls and the hilltop Church of St George. The resort of Portoroz lies next door, and the Secovlje salt pans are a short drive south.
