Ships dock at Cape Liberty Cruise Port, 4 Port Terminal Boulevard, on the north side of the 3 km Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor (the former Military Ocean Terminal), reached through a guarded gate off Route 440. The single terminal building opened in 2014 and is used by Royal Caribbean and Celebrity.

The port is in New Jersey, not New York: Times Square is about 21 km by road through the Holland or Lincoln Tunnel, and Newark Airport about 16 km. Passengers may not walk in, so arrive by car, taxi, rideshare or coach; there are no shops or restaurants nearby.

About Bayonne

Bayonne is a city in Hudson County, New Jersey, on a narrow peninsula between Newark Bay and Upper New York Bay, directly south of Jersey City and across the water from Staten Island and Brooklyn. Long a shipbuilding, oil-refining and port town, it is home to the Peninsula at Bayonne Harbor, the former Military Ocean Terminal Bayonne used by the US Army until 1999 and now shared by film studios and the cruise port.

The peninsula has open views of the Statue of Liberty and the Lower Manhattan skyline, and Harbor View Park at its tip holds the Tear Drop Memorial to the victims of the September 11 attacks. Most visitors use Bayonne as the New Jersey gateway to the New York area, with Manhattan, Liberty State Park and Newark Airport all within a short drive.
